THE + TÍNH TỪ
Cách dùng:
The + adjectives(giới từ): giới thiệu
+ Trong tiếng Anh, chúng ta có thể dùng "the" cộng một tính từ để giới thiệu 1 tầng lớp người.
Ex: the rich người giàu
the poor người nghèo
the injured người bị thương
the young người trẻ
the unemployed người thất nghiệp
the homeless người vô gia cư
the deaf người điếc
the sick người ốm
. . . . . . . .
+ Cụm kết hợp này sẽ được dùng như một danh từ (làm chủ ngữ hoặc tân ngữ)
Ex: After the train crash, the injured were taken to the serveral local hospitals.
We need to find home for the homeless.
WHICH
Cách dùng:
Trong tiếng Anh, khi kết hợp 2 mệnh đề, chúng ta có thể dùng từ nối "which" để thay thế nghĩa cả mệnh đề đứng trước.
Công thức:
S1 + V1, which S2 + V2
Ex: She failed the exam. This suprised us.
⇒ She failed the exam, which suprised us.
Giải thích: Trong câu kết hợp trên, từ "which" đã được thay thế cho ý nghĩ cả mệnh đề đứng trước nó. ("She failed the exam" = "which")
Our car has broken down. This mean we can't go away tomorrow.
⇒ Our car has broken down, which means we can't go away tomorrow.
Mary didn't come to the party. This made her boyfriend sad.
⇒ Mary didn't come to the party, which made her boyfriend sad.
My mother gave me a T-shirt for my birthday. This made me happy for a whole day.
⇒ My mother gave me a T-shirt for my birthday, which made me happy for a whole day.
Our flight was delayed. This meant we had to wait for hours at the airport.
⇒ Our flight was delayed, which meant we had to wait for hours at the airport.
